Power BI connections support MDX and DAX, so you can use both Grids and Tabular report types.

To connect to a PowerBI Desktop file, the file must be opened on your machine before trying to connect. Simply press the connect button on the connection form and any open files will be listed, and you can pick from these.

As Power BI runs on the desktop machine of the user, these connections are not available when published to the web.
